Betting Odds Still Favoring Williamses

Experts have Venus and Serena as two of the top three favorites for the Championships, but that doesn't mean nobody else has a chance.
One day away from the start of the 125th Wimbledon championships, and Serena and Venus Williams are heading into the fortnight as two of the top three favorites to take home the Venus Rosewater dish.

Betting odds at Bet 365 and Sky Bet both place Serena and Venus among the top three favorites, with Bet 365 placing Serena as the top favorite and Sky Bet placing Maria Sharapova as the most likely to win.

And what about the young guns, or the French Open finalists from two weeks ago? Well, if you're wondering, Na Li is an 8 to 1 to win the whole tournament, while Francesca Schiavone is facing 80 to 1 odds to claim her second Grand Slam.

Marion Bartoli, a former Wimbledon finalist who won the Aegon International title yesterday, has moved up to 25 to 1, while Petra Kvitova stands just behind Na Li with 9 to 1 odds to take the title.

  1. Quite interesting. Really difficult to tell how the women's draw will pan out...
